I have always been a bit of news junkie. In fact, during my first two years of college, I was certain that I wanted to be a journalist. I then realized that if I, in fact, wanted to pursue a journalism career, any chance of ever ending up in my hometown or near my family was probably out of the question.
Even though I decided against pursuing a career in journalism, I still take an interest in news and the happenings around the US and the world. I do not like feeling uninformed about current events. However, being a full time worker and mommy has made it more difficult for me to find time to get my news and I have found myself feeling out of the loop in current world happenings.
I recently discovered something that has been very helpful. I subscribed to The Skimm, which is an e-mail based news delivery service that gives you a brief description of the days biggest headlines. It also links up with other news sources that have the whole story if you want more information on a topic. To top it off, The Skimm doesn't take itself too seriously, and delivers the daily news stories with a side of witty sarcasm, where appropriate, of-course. I have found myself looking forward to the early morning e-mail and checking out what the latest daily news is. And, the best part is, I don't feel totally out of the loop anymore.
If you haven't tried it, it's super easy to subscribe and it's free, which is super. Here is a link that will take you to The Skimm website to check it out further:

Let me know what you think if you sign up. How does everyone else find time to keep up to date on the current events?

I've never heard of The Skimm but it sounds very useful : )
Never heard of it, might take a looksee! Sometimes, I just try and ignore the news...some can be very repetitive, depressing and downright evil!
Especially when "THE VOLS" lose!
(Just kidding)
So news with a bit of humor might be to my liking!
Yes, alot of the news is very depressing, unfortunately. Check it out though... it will keep you fairly well informed without having to spend your whole evening catching up on the news on tv. And yes the most depressing news of all is when the VOLS lose for sure. Lol!!
